Naw that’s just part of getting old.

My younger self would be very disappointed at the things I find exciting now.

I recently found an Indian grocery store that stocks those Heinz beans in the teal can that are popular on toast in the UK! …turns out they’re not very good. But I found them!!

I’ve moved over to Branston now. The last Heinz beans I had were horrible - watery sauce, not enough beans. Branston is the bomb.

My partner is British and we are in the US, so we end up hunting for stuff like this all the time. Luckily a market up the road happens to be owned by a Brit, so we can at least get tea biscuits there.

I have no idea what makes a good vs bad tea biscuit, but that Indian grocer definitely sold those as well. Idk if that’s just a random coincidence or if there’s some overlap in Indian and British snacks, but if there are any Indian stores near you, you might have some luck there.

Also Indian food is fucking incredible, so even if you don’t find what you’re looking for, you WILL find something tasty!

Aw fuck. This is my cue to confront my own bias: my palate is Americanized as fuck. Hell, my own mother probably had a corn syrup subsidy to add it to her tit juice before feeding it to me as a baby.

So, take my culinary assessment with a grain of salt sugar.

Haha. Nah, you’re good 😊 . Brits like beans because they’re cheap, easy and available. They’re ok, hardly a culinary experience worth seeking out though :)

Although they are one of your five a day!

Younger me might be disappointed in a lot of things, but my fascination with new and interesting foods would not be a disappointment at all! If I told me “We’re really into brie and canning salsa” we’d be delighted!
