Care to elucidate? I’ve never seen any valid reasons to think it didn’t happen. The only thing I’ve seen is people trying to excuse that it was justified somehow, which is a preposterous concept.
From my understanding, its not a secret anymore that the western media came up with their own story about what happened. I dont expect you to believe me of course but I’d point you towards statements and articles from people who were there when it happened.
Edit to add: my favorite bit of propaganda is how most people think the tank man video ends with him being run over. It can be slightly tricky to find the full video though unless you are looking specifically for it.
Some context without getting too detailed due to it being considered apologia here: the 38th and 27th armies almost fought each other during the events. The 38th wasn’t willing to use force, and the 27th was all too willing, which precipitated a chance of civil war being sparked when there appeared to be military backing the student protests, or seemingly refusing orders.
Unpacking the tension of 1989 protests is way more academically sensitive than a Lemmy thread in this community.
Well at least the tiannemen square part is bullshit.
Holy shit…… wait. People are actually trying to edit history and make believe that the events there never happened?
Or are you saying it’s bullshit because the massacre actually happened in a place called Tiananmen Square?

Here’s one from a WAPO journalist: https://www.cjr.org/behind_the_news/the_myth_of_tiananmen.php

What about this one?

That one seems alright.
They only like aljazeera when they’re reporting on palestine.

How does that tie into the claim that China suppresses calling it a massacre or act of violence “bullshit”?
