Does alternating between upvoting and downvoting one’s own post cause it to artificially rise in either Hot or Active?
Probably not as the action was performed by the same actor.
You could try downvoting it, waiting for some pity upvotes and then upvoting it again to give it a head start
Yep say something controversial but broadly acceptable, downvote yourself to look attacked, then come back in a few minutes and upvote your command and you’re now the top child comment under a post. Stealthy but effective.

Ik for a bit on reddit it was promoting controversial posts more and u could game the algorithm by doing this.
