Manifest Destiny was the idea found throughout the late 1700s and much of the 1800s that said “hey, those Native Americans don’t seem like they’re really doing anything with all that land, so let’s kill most of them and take it so we can have coasts on the Atlantic AND Pacific oceans!”, which became a de facto policy of the US government.
