Apple announces iPhone 15 with USB-C, a camera upgrade, and the Dynamic Island::Apple’s new iPhone 15 is the first iPhone with a USB-C port. The iPhone 15 also includes the Dynamic Island and a big camera upgrade.
Should this read the EU forces them to use the USB-C.

Well… if you get the non pro 15 your usbc port is stuck on usb2 speed.
This can’t be true. Are you serious?
It is serious. Apple is a joke sometimes.
Yup, they didn’t upgrade the bandwidth of the connection between the port’s controller chip and motherboard on the standard model, they just swapped port and controller.
You missed the “optional extra” part of the usb3 cable too
Did the EU also force Apple to ship the iPhone in pastels?
Yes, yes we did. Enjoy the colours
Is this an Easter technology community? Because you just got downvoted aggressively for making a pastel color joke.
He got downvoted because the title involves the word “Apple” and his comment wasn’t negative.
If enough people like those colors then they might pass a law requiring it.

I actually don’t mind this change. I just hope the EU pushes for it on things that aren’t phones. Like over the ear headphones, electric razors, and a bunch of other junk around my house that each has its own DC power brick.

My sarcasm was more aimed at Apple, because I cannot believe they picked those hideous colors without being forced to by law. I guess no one got the joke. 🤷♂️
They are doing that, but not for literally everything. There’s a bunch of categories affected
as always, Apple is on the top when it comes to innovation. Their newly invented “USB-C” (the C stands for “cool”) connector looks very solid and soon we will probably see the android copycats steal that connector and put it on their phones, too.
hot take.
When did Apple claim to innovate USBC? Was it when they said that USBC has become the standard and so they’re adopting it? Or was it the rest of the presentation where they didn’t mention it at all?
- USB-C
- New button on pro
We truly live in the world of technological revolution
One da, the technology might even exist for a headphone jack.
I’m not gonna buy it anyways since I don’t like iOS, but I really appreciate that this will make it easier to bum charging cables off my family members.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
We’ve been waiting for the day that the iPhone would switch to the widely used USB-C standard instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector.
USB-C is good news, but if you were hoping for a totally new iPhone 15 design, well, that’s not happening this year.
The iPhone 15 also has an OLED Super Retina display, which supports Dolby Vision content with 1,600 nits of brightness.
The biggest noticeable upgrade to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus outside of the visible USB-C and Dynamic Island changes is an improved camera system.
The iPhone 15 also includes a second-generation ultra wideband chip, just like the new Apple Watch Series 9.
Apple is launching its latest iPhone 15 models alongside a new Apple Watch Series 9, which includes an upgraded chip with improved GPU performance, a second-generation ultra wideband chip, a “double-tap” feature, and more.

Coincidentally that’s also the last time anyone used a USB cable to transfer data to or from their ohone
While I do agree this is stupid, who actually transfers data to their phone via USB anymore?
I’ve seen this mentioned in literally every single iphone related discussion since the news broke, but what percentage of users will even be affected? And of those affected, how many are doing it often enough that max speed is really important?
I’ll bet less than 0.1% tbh, probably significantly less
The first and only time I transfered data onto my current phone (Z Fold 4) was to dump a bunch of ROMs on it, and since that was hundreds of gigs, it took a longass time anyways
🥱
‘The Dynamic Island’?!? WTF?
Is this something related to a network TV Action Sports reality show?
Perhaps a contested patch of guano near the Philippines where China is building an illegal military base?
Or a new nature documentary about Hawaiian volcanoes?
No, i had watch a video showing it to figure out that it’s just the fancy way they make their UI of iOS use the camera cutout intentionally. It does dynamic stuff and makes it feel less like a static island. They’re really scraping the barrel with that one.
I mean, it is better than just having a hole punch as other manufacturers have done. But they definitely have way overmarketed it.
I mean… I’d still prefer no hole punch at all.
Edit: Not that I actually care what apple does directly, but it does ripple through the industry of copycats
