Sooo… Dressing like a street gang member?
Maybe we will get lucky and some/all will fall into the canals and drown.
In order to be most effective it would need to be dynamic rather than a fixed on/off like rear brake lights. Stopping doesn’t mean stopped. So perhaps a progressive light bar that starts lighting up at 20mph and adds a light for each 5mph drop until the whole bar is lit indicating a full stop. That would give pedestrians a sense of rate of deceleration.
How do I set my car’s status to “It’s complicated”?
I sure hope they had multiple cloud backups.
Well, I was in a debate club so I suppose that is where it comes from.
Also, saying I have an opposing opinion is fine, if that is my actual stance. I this case it’s more of an I can see both sides of the argument and would like to have a rounded discussion rather than a reddit echo chamber.
+1 for a woodworking analogy. :)
Fully agree. Honestly, it’s why I like the Copilot branding Microsoft used. It is a Copilot, not the Captain. You still need to be in control and verify and scrutinize.
If memory serves me correctly, nobody concented to the search indexes originally either, it took time for those guard rails to be put in place and respected. I would imagine that this new tech will undergo the same growing pains as guard rails get implemented.
I don’t know about all AI products, but I know that I use the Copilot sidebar built into edge for work and school questions and it always provides citations to the source information. In fact if I ask a question for school and add in the prompt to cite all sources with a reference in APA format, it gives me everything I need in proper format.
I’d like to play devil’s advocate for a sec and ask this question, how is a company scraping information from publicly available sources to train AI models any different than companies scraping that same publicly available data and indexing it for search?
While the search model is helpful to is all, Google isn’t doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, they have a whole business model based on selling advertising utilizing the information they have freely indexed. Yet very few complain about search indexers crawling their data like they do AI bots.
Again, just playing devil’s advocate for the sake of curiosity.
I’ve been doing German on Duolingo for over a year and I can get about 20% of the content they post, so I’m pretty happy to have an actual use for the work I put in.
Yet, you are so far from figuring out what is wrong with yourself or how you interact with others. For instance, I’m am about as left leaning as one can possibly be. Yet somehow you pegged me as right wing nut job. You convinced yourself that only you are right and therefore everyone is wrong and dumbfucks.
Arrogance breeds ignorance.
Speaking in absolutes not only makes you a sith, it makes you ignorant too.
It is important to understand why people are the way they are in order to prevent future repeats. In the case of Boomers, I don’t blame them 100% nor am I going to just chalk it up to just random chance.
If you look at the generation as a whole, the predominant qualities they have are entitlement, arrogance, narrow mindedness, and a deep lack of empathy. Those attributes are what lead them to do the things that they did with the benefits that the luck of their circumstances gave them. But where did those attributes come from? I believe again you have to blame the parents.
I believe that the root of the problems come from the Boomers’ parents. After the war, they were so happy to be alive and living in relative peace, that the popped out a bunch of kids and then showered them with all the benefits that the post-war prosperity brought while also not really paying that much attention to them (who has time to work and be fully involved in the lives of 5 kids?). What did that lead to? A generation that was spoiled and had no boundaries set, so they grew up to do a bunch of drugs, have a bunch of sex, and generally think that every thing is owed to them and everyone else is wrong because they are the best.
Boomers are spoiled children.
Except that’s not really the full truth either. The generation got lucky AND systemically burned every thing down so that they were the only ones left with all the benefits that luck provided.
I constantly refer to my parents and in-laws as children. Why? Because they behave exactly like my 11 year old. They have no critical reasoning skills, no emotional intelligence, are easily offended, and can not be reliability left on their own without screwing something up.
At some point around retirement age, humans seem to cognitively revert back to children and those of us in middle adulthood are left to parent our actual children and our childish parents.
And your qualifications in computer science are…?
China is just capitalism with extra spicy corruption.
One might describe that as a concentration camp.
