I’ve literally seen "but Ukraine has Nazis” before.

Edit. Thanks everyone. I don’t need an explanation. I’m just saying that if I cared to, I could pull those receipts.

It probably is true. I’m sure there is at least on Nazi in the entirety of Ukraine.

Does that justify invasion? No, not really

If you can identify them, it justifies flying over there to punch them in the face. I’m sure Indiana Jones can find some ancient relic there to justify the trip.

second-off Azov Brigade have confirmed neo-Nazis in their ranks

That goes for pretty much every single military in the world unfortunately. It’s not really worth singling them out when there are Russians running around with black sun symbols and SS-Skulls at the same time.

Besides, Ukraine has done a huge amount of work to clear up these elements and pretty much none of the founding members of Azov remain in active service. The entire brigade has been almost fully replaced after Mariupol.

The old issue with Azov had a lot to do with them receiving weapons and training from U.S. military prior to the full russian invasion in 2022. The backtracking and legitmization of the battalion in response is typically what people are most critical of. Seems silly how those optics used to be a concern.

So does Russia though. So does Israel and I’m pretty sure Hamas also has a ton of hardcore reactionaries. I never understood what that argument is meant to achieve except spread disinfo

The last director of the Russian space agency was recorded speaking at a neo-nazi gathering. And the guy who gave the Wagner group its name had a tattoo of the nazi eagle and the SS logo on each of his shoulders. I mean, if you wanna condemn an entire country for having a few nazis, the list of Russian nazis is a lot longer. We’ll be here for hours.

Can’t help but feel the creation of a hard right organisation is a natural out come of an invasion of your territory

The best propaganda uses elements of truth or even wholly true premises. It’s the conclusion that’s wrong (“therefore we should X”).
