The song “1985” was released in 2004. At that time, the song was reminiscing about a time that was 19 years ago. Now, in 2024, the year 2004 is 20 years ago. Therefore, the release year of the song “1985” is closer to the year 1985, than the current year is to the year the song “1985” was released (2004).
Thank you. That title made my brain hurt.
It took me much longer than I’d like to admit to understand what the title meant. “But 1985 is 0 years from 1985???”
I am not a clever person.
The post is badly phrased
There’s a song about that! https://youtu.be/zaAYUZqZvlA?si=k5EHa5N2apm7QtZY
Smashing Pumpkins 1979 was released on their 1995 album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Its already much longer between 2024 and 1995 than it is between 1995 and 1979. Almost by twice!
I remember the actual 1979. Egads, I’m old.
2024 > 1985

Math / Maths. Legos / Lego. There’s other examples too where Bri’ish and Septic English differ on pluralisation. It’s what happens when language mutates.
According to LEGO the term “LEGO” is an adjective and therefore never plural (LEGO bricks). That being said you can’t control how language develops, so lego/legos it doesn’t matter as long as you’re understood.
I’m glad LEGO clarified the situation and have/has an official stance. I’m with them on this. Lego, fish, sheep etc. it’s not unusual.

Seems more like it’s own top level discussion than related to the 1985 song. But carry on, who am I to rain on your parade?
