I also have always wanted to sleep in a huge dog bed but, unfortunately
Summer
I’m already suffering the tyranny of sweating all my liquids out twice a night, this would add a whole extra dimension of heat (pun not intended)
OK so what we have here is a winter dog bed summer hammock situation.
If you’re not doing it already, use fans to move the air around your room. The moving air will help remove heat from your body, effectively making you feel cooler. This is done through what’s called convection.
… Did you actually recommend fans to people who get hot like it’s a secret? Is this some old British TV sketch about sheep growing fucking wool or vegetables coming right out the fucking ground lol?
Another reply acting like this is a dumb thing to remind people. Maybe I’m dumb too.
But we used to have a fan that blew air across the bed. Husband loved it, I hated the feeling of air moving across me and would be buried under blankets to avoid it.
After a medical procedure he was sleeping in a recliner for a few weeks while he healed.
I adjusted the fan and ceiling fan so they move air around the whole room, just not directly across the bed. I can sleep without barriers for air tickles, we get the white noise benefit, and the room feela cooler. It works for him too this way when he’s in there and keeps him cool enough (I’ve asked)
Before that I had just assumed you had to be directly in front of a fan to get the benefits, especially when it’s too hot outside for the AC to work effectively.
Trying getting out of that in your 50s with arthritis setting in. Oof.
Solution: dont get out.
You want this
But you can upgrade to this
Damn i had that sandbox, core memory playing with Pohatu
Why do you need to ruin my night like this.
Can I take it back 😬
Think of happy turtles
Put the cushioned edges on a hinge so you can push them out of the way like a door-pillow
Please explain how you picture that would work. How would you be able to push them while that not happening as you tried to lay down on them?
No
Why stop there? I hear they’ll give you an entire padded room if you ask correctly.
I pretty much exclusively sleep with one of my feet sticking out uncovered over the edge of the mattress. Without the warm foot/chilly foot combo, I’d just feel uncomfortable in this bed.
That is a bold lifestyle choice to announce to the world
This is extremely standard
I don’t see the problem. The ring isn’t solid, it’s like a pillow all around so it wouldn’t hinder you from that. There would only be a small height difference with the weight of your leg on the soft ring, even seems like it could be even better than a normal bed.
Even if it squished most of the way down, I’d still have my leg uncomfortably raised. But I also use a pillow that’s so thin that it barely lifts my head higher than the mattress at all, so maybe I’m just unnaturally well-suited to the flat slab bed shape.
I just throw my leg over the bed’s wall. Works fine
As a tall person, they would never make this in my size
I concur. My current bed is 15cm longer than standard because otherwise my feet end up hanging over the edge
That happens to me too. In my daughter’s bed. She’s six. And really it’s only if I really lay flat. It barely happens. One of the rare wins for below average height!
In my student flat where I have a regular sized bed I have started to sleep diagonally just so I fit.
Other tall people would, if it was really that big of a problem
Tell me you’re not tall without telling me you’re not tall.
That would be awful. A new neck cramp every day.
And pale puddle of sweat from my wife. We need airflow to sleep well.
I was just talking about something like this with my gf last week. I want a big bed with upturned edges (but still big enough to stretch out fully on the flat part) that I can fill with extra cushions and blankets. The image in my head was a bit nicer than a giant dog bed though…
A giant crib?
No not that extreme. I don’t want a bed with walls, just slightly upturned edges. More like a big dinner plate than a crib.
I love the idea of a dinner plate bed.
Body pillow retaining walls.
I remember something like this with a friend’s water bed. It was mostly a normal king size bed setup but the rim of the bed had a 3 or 4 inch wide padded lip. It all came out to level when the bed was made but the effect as you got on the bed was sinking down a little past the lip, so even if you were on the edge you were still sort of cupped into the mattress instead of being able to easily roll out.
Yes! I don’t want my pillows falling off the sides, I don’t want my phone to fall off the edge, I don’t want my blanket slipping over the edge. Right now I create the little lip with a rolled up t shirt on the edge so I can put my phone down and roll over and in the morning it’ll still be on my bed

Who’s a good girl?!? Want to go outside?
I was going to post this but you are smarter and more clever. Doggy doggy… What now?
This would be appealing if it wasn’t so damn hot right now.
Their x-large looks impossible for two people to comfortably fit, even in their advertising. Also how wide are the bolsters along the edges? How would a 5’9" person even be able to sleep in the standard? My knees would kill if I had to suspend my legs by my feet in order to lay on my back.
Yeah, sadly these look like they’re for average height women at most. As a 6’ man, I’m disappointed.
What I’m hearing is everyone here would be immediately happier if they could afford to sew together a few body pillows. If only there was a simple solution to this dilemma…
I have no greater ambition. Always be well rested. Most stress I feel is once a year on the 4th. Get super hyped about running around at the park with friends.
This should be what life’s about. Robot overlords if you can hear me, skip all that matrix shit just get us bowls with our names on it.
